How to Create More Backlinks to Your Site through Three Way Linking

So the search engines have finally changed their ranking algorithms making the reciprocal link almost redundant. This can cause many problems particularly if your main form of link building has been through reciprocal links (swapping links on your site and a partner site).

How can I create more links to my site that are not reciprocal I hear you say? Well there are two options, create compelling content that people would naturally want to link to, (how to create compelling content) or, Three Way Linking.

Three Way Linking does what is says on the tin, its three one way links between three websites.

Lets say I own three websites, website a, website b and website c, previously you could create reciprocal links between all three websites; however this now no longer helps your search engine rankings, and aggressive reciprocal linking can have a slight negative affect on your rankings.

The new way of getting these ‘reciprocal’ links without potentially affecting your rankings is three way linking.

  • Website A (links to) Website B
  • Website B (links to) Website C
  • Website C (links to) Website A

Three Way Linking

Therefore all three websites have one outgoing link and one incoming link; however it is now no longer a reciprocal link as the incoming link is from a different website to the outgoing link.
